Maple Ridge Community BBQ to Celebrate Inclusion

Maple Ridge will hold a party and barbecue to celebrate inclusive communities, people with diverse abilities and those who live in Maple Ridge.

To celebrate Community Inclusion Month, the Life After School Transition Committee will host a Community Inclusion Barbecue Party.

Kiwanis Club of Golden Ears offers a concession for free, with hot dogs, pop and chips, as well chips, chips, cookies and other snacks.

There will also be art, music, dancing, and live entertainment with Spandy Andy – an entertainer who sports crazy spandex outfits, and dances to 90’s music from a boombox he carries around, who has travelled the world entertaining people through dance.

This committee, according to LAST is comprised of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows service providers who collaborate to help young people transition to adulthood with different abilities. They promote community resources, celebrate the importance of economic inclusion and recognize community strengths.

The event will take place at the Greg Moore Youth Centre 11925 Haney Place in Maple Ridge, from 11:30 – 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 5.

The centre is wheelchair-friendly because it has underground parking.
