Veuer’s Elizabeth Keatinge tells us why the time of day you eat may affect your mental health.
Aaron Warner, who ran Official BBQ mobile BBQ kitchen for two years, brought a variety of sides and smoked meats to businesses and private events. It’s easy enough to see on the business Facebook page that those visits to places like South Mountain Speedway and Stan’s Beverage grew the fan base. This restaurant is now in a new chapter with a brand new location.
Although the name restaurant may seem a bit exaggerated, the food can be ordered for pick up, delivery or outside dining at the picnic tables located behind the building. The seating area is quiet despite being located at 848 N. Hanover St. in Carlisle. There’s music and a line between trees that separate the tables and the homes of neighboring business owners. Z-Band Technologies is also located in the same space as the Official BBQ.

It was very simple and I enjoyed it. The first choice was which type of meat. You can find all the classic barbecue joints favorites, such as pulled pork, babyback ribs, and chicken, served as both wings and half-chicken.
You can find some more unique options at a barbecue restaurant. For example, my sister chose to eat ribeye steak. It would need to be prepared on-demand and take some time. It was worth it, judging by her reactions to the first bite.
I chose the sliced, smoked turkey breast and, honestly, there’s every chance in the world that I cheat this Thanksgiving and pick up some of this for dinner. You can find the recipe here “slices”These are large and thick. I placed them on fresh Kaiser rolls and then topped it with BBQ sauce. Although the sandwich was excellent, the turkey was still delicious plain.
Let’s get back to ordering. Next, I had to decide between ordering a single meat or an entire meal that included two sides. I went with the two, choosing my go-to side of macaroni and cheese, which was just what you want macaroni and cheese to be – familiar, cheesy and enhanced ever so slightly by a touch of the Signature Sweet Heat seasoning offered on the side in a tiny plastic container.
Unexpectedly, the other option was also available. It’s not often garlic green beans are offered, but these long green beans were full of garlic and complemented the turkey dinner perfectly.
You can also add seasoned potatoes or smoked bacon baked beans to your side dishes. As an option, bacon, cheese and smoked onions can be added.
The inside menu boards listed some combo options such as pulled pork or chicken, beef tenderloin and a half-pound burger that are available for lunch between 11:00 and 2:45 p.m. Check in at prices that can easily be matched by fast-food restaurants.
Then why is Official BBQ so important? Warner was a state wrestling official for over 20 years. The name of the company and the stripes worn by the employees are a tribute to this history. His barbecue company will hopefully last just as long or even longer.
